Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, has firmly rejected allegations of a Christian genocide in the country, calling the claims “divisive” and “unfounded.” His remarks come amid growing international scrutiny and concern over religious violence in Nigeria.
Speaking to reporters, General Musa emphasized that the Nigerian Armed Forces operate with neutrality and are committed to protecting all citizens regardless of religion or ethnicity. “There is no Christian genocide in Nigeria,” he stated. “Our operations are guided by national interest and security priorities, not religious bias.”
The Defense Chief’s comments were in response to recent claims made by foreign lawmakers and advocacy groups, particularly in the United States, suggesting that Christians in Nigeria are being systematically targeted. These assertions have sparked debates across diplomatic and humanitarian circles.
General Musa warned that such narratives could inflame tensions and undermine Nigeria’s efforts to combat terrorism and banditry. “We must be cautious about the kind of information we spread. Misinformation can be more dangerous than bullets,” he said.
