Ademola Lookman has signaled openness to a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray, with reports suggesting that fellow Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has played a key role in influencing his decision.
According to Turkish media, Osimhen has been actively persuading Lookman to join him at Galatasaray during the upcoming January transfer window. The two forwards reportedly discussed the possibility while on international duty with Nigeria, and Lookman reacted positively to the idea of reuniting with his compatriot at club level.
Atalanta, Lookman’s current club, have placed a €50 million price tag on the winger after rejecting a €43 million plus add-ons bid from Inter Milan last summer. While the Serie A side are reluctant to sell him to a domestic rival, they are said to be more open to negotiating with foreign clubs, which keeps Galatasaray firmly in contention.
Lookman’s situation in Bergamo has been complicated following a tense summer period. Though he remains a key figure for Atalanta, reports suggest he has grown increasingly unsettled. Turkish journalist Ferhat Kızıltaş noted that Lookman has been impressed by the “love and adoration shown to Osimhen by Galatasaray fans” and is keen to experience similar support.
Adding to the speculation, Lookman has reportedly submitted a transfer request to Atalanta, demanding to leave when the January window opens. Galatasaray, who recently completed the high-profile signing of Osimhen, are believed to be preparing a fresh bid and could finance the move by selling Barış Alper Yılmaz.
For Galatasaray, the potential arrival of Lookman would be a major boost as they aim to strengthen their squad for both domestic dominance and Champions League ambitions. For Lookman, the chance to play alongside Osimhen at one of Europe’s most passionate clubs could mark a new chapter in his career.
