The long-awaited breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes has finally arrived. Two brothers, Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande, have been formally charged after being extradited from Eswatini, marking a significant step forward in one of the country’s most high-profile criminal cases.
On February 10, 2023, AKA was gunned down outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban, alongside his close friend and business partner, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane. The brazen assassination shocked South Africa and the global music community, sparking outrage and grief.
The Ndimande brothers were returned to South Africa following the collapse of a prolonged legal battle in Eswatini aimed at preventing their extradition. They are accused of orchestrating the fatal shooting of AKA and Tibz outside a Durban restaurant on February 10, 2023. Both men arrived at King Shaka International Airport in Durban on November 11, 2025, under tight security, shackled at the hands and feet, and escorted by heavily armed police units.
In addition to the murder charges, they face counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. Their case will be heard alongside five other suspects already in custody, bringing the total number of accused to seven.
