Nollywood actress Biola Bayo has publicly addressed the pressure of attending multiple social events, revealing that she’s financially unable to purchase the expensive Aso Ebi fabrics required for her colleagues’ celebrations.
In a heartfelt Instagram video, Biola explained that she’s expected to attend eight Owambe parties before the end of the year, with the total cost of Aso Ebi alone nearing ₦2 million. She emphasized that the expenses go far beyond just buying fabric.
“It’s not just the cloth. There’s sewing, makeup, shoes, bags, fuel, and even spraying money,” she said.
Biola admitted she’s been struggling emotionally and financially, and apologized to friends and family for declining to buy Aso Ebi for their events. She described the situation as overwhelming and unsustainable.
“I had wanted to make this video before now, but I’ve been mentally, emotionally, and financially down,” she shared.
Her honesty resonated with many fans, who praised her for speaking out about the financial strain that often accompanies Nigerian social culture.
